INGREDIENTS

  • 1. Potatoes 4 nos
  • 2. Onion 1 nos
  • 3. Turmeric 1 pinch
  • 4. Salt 1 pinch
  • 5. Oil 2 tsp
  • 6. Mustard Seeds, Urad dal 1/2 tsp
  • 7. Black split gram 1 tsp
  • 8. Curry Leaves 5-6 nos
  • 9. For the paste:Coconut, grated 2 tbsp
  • 10. Green Chilli 2 nos
  • 11. Cumin Seeds 1/2 tsp

PREPARATION

1. Wash and peel the skin from potato, cube to small pieces

2. Grind together cumin, green chilly and coconut without adding any water

3. Heat a kadai with oil, splutter mustard seeds, urad dal, curry leaves

4. Now add the chopped onions, turmeric powder and salt to taste

5. Mix well

6. When the onions turn colour, add the potato cubes

7. Sprinkle some water, cover and cook till the vegetable is done

8. Keep stirring once in a while

9. Now add the coconut mix

10. Mix well

11. Remove from heat

12. Serve as an accompaniment with plain rice and Sambar or Rasam
