Nombu Kanji/Jeeraka Kanji

INGREDIENTS

  • 1. Rice 1/4 cups
  • 2. Water 1 cups
  • 3. Salt 2 pinch
  • 4. Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
  • 5. Coriander Powder 1/2 tsp
  • 6. Fenugreek Powder 1/2 tsp
  • 7. Coconut 4 tbsp
  • 8. Small Onion 2 nos
  • 9. Cumin Seeds 3/4 tsp
  • 10. Ashaali/cress seeds 1 tsp
  • 11. For Seasoning:Ghee 1 tsp
  • 12. Small Onion 2 nos

PREPARATION

1. Soak rice for 20 minutes and wash well

2. In a cooker add rice along with all powders and water and cook for one whistle in medium flame

3. When the pressure releases open the cooker

4. Grind coconut along with cumin and shallots to fine paste

5. Add this paste into the cooked rice along with extra water

6. Cook for 5 minutes

7. Add salt and cress seeds(opt)

8. Finally season with small onions

9. So tasty healthy Jeeraka Kanji is ready to serve
