KhasKhas Kheer / PoppySeeds Payasam

INGREDIENTS

  • 1. Poppy seeds / Khaskhas 1 cups
  • 2. Almonds 15 nos
  • 3. Sugar 1 cups
  • 4. Cashew nuts 15 nos
  • 5. Ghee 1 tbsp
  • 6. Milk 1 litre
  • 7. Cardamom powder 2 pinch
  • 8. Saffron strands 1 pinch
  • 9. Raisins 15-20 nos

PREPARATION

1. Wash poppy seeds and soak in 2 cups of milk for half an hour

2. Now take soaked poppy seeds and half of almonds and cashew nuts in a blending jar

3. Make a fine paste of poppy seeds,almomds and cashew nuts

4. Heat ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add poppy seeds paste

5. Sauté on low heat till ghee starts separating

6. Add milk and remaining almonds , cashew nuts and saffron strands

7. Let it cook on low heat , keep mixing and stirring in between

8. Now add sugar and let it cook for some more time

9. Milk will start thickening

10. Switch off heat and lastly add cardamom powder and raisins

11. Garnish as you like and serve hot or cold it tastes equally delicious
