Kerala Varutharacha Chicken Curry

INGREDIENTS

  • 1. For Marination : Chicken 1 kgs
  • 2. Turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • 3. Chili Powder 1 tsp
  • 4. Salt 1 tsp
  • 5. Ginger,medium 1 nos
  • 6. Gralic 5 nos
  • 7. Pepper 1 tsp
  • 8. Fennel seeds 1/2 tsp
  • 9. Small onions 100 gms
  • 10. Big onion 1 nos
  • 11. Green chilli 4 nos
  • 12. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  • 13. Tomato,small 1 nos
  • 14. Green Plantain 2 nos
  • 15. Hot Water 2 cups
  • 16. Salt 1 tsp
  • 17. For Roasting : Grated coconut 3/4 cups
  • 18. Small Onion 3 nos
  • 19. Garlic 2 nos
  • 20. Ginger,small 1 nos
  • 21. Green Chili 2 nos
  • 22. Fennel seeds 1/4 tsp
  • 23. Pepper 1/4 tsp
  • 24. Chilli Powder 1 tbsp
  • 25. Kashmiri chilli powder 1/2 tbsp
  • 26. Coriander Powder 2 tbsp
  • 27. Garam masala 1 tsp
  • 28. Small onion,for seasoning 3 nos

PREPARATION

1. Marinate chicken pieces with turmeric powder ,salt and chilli powder

2. Keep aside for 20 minutes

3. In a kadai heat coconut oil and add grated coconut ,ginger, garlic,green chilli, curry leaves ,pepper ,fennel seeds and small onions to golden shade

4. Then add chilli powder ,coriander powder and garam masala d saute until the raw smell goes

5. Remove from the fire and allow to cool

6. By adding enough water grind to a fine paste,Keep aside

7. Heat coconut oil in kadai add ginger-garlic-fennel -pepper paste

8. Saute for few seconds

9. Then add small onions along with green chilli d curry leaves

10. Add salt and saute for few seconds

11. Then add big onion slices and saute till golden brown colour

12. Now add tomato pieces and cook well by closing the kadai in medium flame

13. Then add chicken pieces and mix well

14. Close the kadai and cook for 5 minutes

15. Now add ground masala paste and mix well

16. Close and cook When half cooked if u want u can add potato or plantain pieces

17. Now add hot water and mix well Close and cook

18. When done check the taste,adjust accordingly

19. Finally season with small onion and curryleaves

20. So ur tasty chicken varutharacha curry is ready to serve

21. Enjoy with pathiri,paratha ,chapatti ,idiyappam etc
