  • 1. Bhindi/Okra 250 gms
  • 2. Onion chopped into lengthwise 2 nos
  • 3. Tomato diced 2 nos
  • 4. Ginger - garlic paste 1 tbsp
  • 5. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • 6. Chilly powder 1/4 tsp
  • 7. Coriander powder 1 tsp
  • 8. Kasoori methi 1 tsp
  • 9. Cumin seeds 1/4 tsp
  • 10. Oil 5 tbsp
  • 11. Salt 1 tsp


1. Wash bhindi and dry it with kitchen towel,Cut it into lengthwise and keep aside

2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a heavy bottom pan on medium heat

3. Put bhindi pieces in oil, add little bit salt and turmeric powder n fry for 5 minutes,Don't put lid on pan, it will spoil colour of bhindi

4. After 5 minutes take out bhindi from pan

5. Heat rest of oil in pan on medium heat

6. Temper cumin seeds for 20 seconds

7. Add chopped onion, a pinch of salt and fry for 3 minutes, Add ginger - garlic paste and fry for one minute

8. Now add turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder n fry for one minute on low flame,Stir several times so that spices shouldn't burn

9. Now add chopped tomatoes pieces n cook for 2 min, Add fried bhindi and salt to taste

10. Stir very well,Take kasoori methi on palm and rub it for 15 seconds

11. Add this in bhindi and stir gently,Put lid on pan just for one minute so that flavours will mix properly in bhindi

12. Serve hot dry kasoori methi bhindi with rice or roti as main course vegetables
