INGREDIENTS

  • 1. Small Onion 250 gms
  • 2. Toor Daal 1/2 cups
  • 3. Water 2 cups
  • 4. Salt 1 tsp
  • 5. Jaggery 1/2 tsp
  • 6. Curry leaves 1 sprig
  • 7. Turmeric powder 1 tsp
  • 8. Coconut Oil 2 tbsp
  • 9. Garlic 3 nos
  • 10. Green chilli 1-2 nos
  • 11. Chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • 12. Coriander Powder 1/2 tsp
  • 13. Sambar Powder 3 tbsp
  • 14. Tomato 1 nos
  • 15. Tamarind,Gooseberry Size 1 nos
  • 16. For Seasoning : Coconut oil 2 tbsp
  • 17. Curry Leaves 1 sprig
  • 18. Dry Red Chilli 3 nos
  • 19. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • 20. Fenugreek seeds 1/4 tsp
  • 21. Fenugreek powder 1 pinch
  • 22. Asafoetida powder 1 pinch
  • 23. Sambar powder 1/2 tsp

PREPARATION

1. Wash daal

2. Take a cooker and add daal along with water ,turmeric powder and asafoetida

3. Cook for one whistle

4. In a kadai heat oil ,add curry leaves and garlic

5. Saute for few seconds

6. Then add small onions ,green chilli and saute till they r transparent

7. Now add chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder saute till the raw smell goes

8. Now add sambar powder and mix well

9. Then add 1 tomato and close the kadai and cook well

10. Open the cooker and add tamarind juice and sauted onion mix,mix well

11. Add salt,add jaggery

12. Now boil for 10 minutes or untill the sambar is bit thick

13. Now heat coconut oil and splutter mustard seeds

14. Then add fenugreek seeds and dry red chilli and curry leaves

15. Switch off the flame and add asafoetida powder, fenugreek powder and sambar powder,mix well

16. Add this to the sambar,mix well

17. Close the cooker for 0 minutes

18. Then finally taste the sambar

19. U can adjust the thickness according to ur preference

20. If u want more thickness boil sambar for little more time or increase the quantity of daal

21. So the tasty d easy Ulli sambar is ready to serve
